I am respectfully requesting we invest the entire tax amount possible (2.5%) into our city. In particular, our city maintenance, safety, schools, sidewalks and green spaces need much more investment. These funds can make Haverhill a better place to live, learn, work and play. Many thanks, Lisa Marzilli 1153 West Lowell Ave Haverhill, MA 978 918-3644

Imagine if the City had properly maintained, repaired and improved our schools over the years, instead of waiting for an emergency situation to warrant their renovation or new construction; Or if we had a fully staffed maintenance department with contractors that were assigned to our school buildings, instead of splitting their time between all public buildings in the city. Our kids and our taxpayers deserve better public services. Until we as a city jump in with both feet (and proper funding) to address longstanding issues from economic development to education to public safety, we will continue to see the effects of a “we get what we pay for” policy in our city. Instead of “your taxes are not going up” (when they always increase every year) let’s get some transparency about how our tax dollars are spent—and a clear presentation about options from the Mayor.
